The fire element, known as Agni in Sanskrit, plays a crucial role in various yoga practices. In yoga, the fire element is associated with the solar plexus chakra, known as Manipura, located in the area of the navel.

  4. Metabolism and Digestion: Physically, the Manipura Chakra is linked to the digestive system and metabolism, playing a crucial role in how we process and assimilate nutrients.


Yoga Practices to Activate the Manipura Chakra

  1. Warrior Poses (Virabhadrasana I, II, III): These powerful standing poses build strength and endurance, activating the core and enhancing the energy of the Manipura Chakra.

  2. Triangle Pose (Trikonasana): This asana helps in stretching and opening the solar plexus area, promoting balance and energy flow.

  3. Seated Forward Bend (Paschimottanasana): Engages the core and stimulates the abdominal organs, encouraging the free movement of energy through the Manipura Chakra.

  4. Bhastrika Pranayama (Bellows Breath): A vigorous breathing technique that kindles the inner fire, energising the solar plexus and increasing vitality.


Balancing the Manipura Chakra

  • Meditation and Visualisation: Practise guided meditations focusing on a radiant yellow sun at the navel centre to enhance and balance the energy of the Manipura Chakra.

  • Affirmations: Use positive affirmations such as "I am strong and confident" to reinforce personal power and self-worth.

  • Dietary Considerations: Include foods that support the digestive system, like ginger, turmeric, and whole grains, to keep the Manipura Chakra balanced.
